Empowerment for Career Development Pvt Ltd (EMCAD) is a registered Consultancy, Training and Research organization under the Zimbabwe Companies Act [Chapter 24:03]. EMCAD’s underlying philosophy is to leverage skills, experience and expertise of its associate consultants to support its quest for refined and applicable solutions to clients’ needs. EMCAD is made up of an interdisciplinary pool of internationally acclaimed experts whose expertise and rich experiences are merged to achieve desired outcomes. This world-wide network of experts is the core of EMCAD’s intrinsic geographical relevance and suitability for handling national, regional and international assignments. This pool of knowledge has been harnessed to provide optimum service and insight into all facets of development and humanitarian work, where EMCAD derives its mandate. As a consultancy and research organization, EMCAD provides quality consultancies by blending rich professional national and international experiences with critical analysis and creativity to ensure the best value for money.

EMCAD also offers training and facilitation in contemporary topics that support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) and career development. These include but are not limited to Data Analysis Using NVIVO, IBM SPSS, Microsoft Excel, STATA, Mixed Methodologies, Results Based Management, Financial Management of Donor Funded Projects, Resource Mobilisation, and Understanding & Contextualising the SDGs.

EMCAD has worked with governments, UN Agencies and various organizations in developing strategies and evaluating projects in the fields of SRHR, Child Rights and Child Protection, Education, HIV and AIDS, Gender, WASH, Peace and Local Governance, Agriculture and Humanitarian work, to name a few.

Company History

The journey that now defines EMCAD began with 2 innovative, dynamic and energetic young women who desired to see the development sector flourishing in the hands of not only senior and seasoned experts, but in the hands of young, determined and hard working professionals. Having just graduated from university and struggling to find employment, EMCAD was established to offer services and contribute to development through ideas that enhance effective implementation of diverse development programmes and projects that are fostered by UN Agencies, Governments, Community Based Organisations (CBOs) and International Organisations. As a result, EMCAD became more than just an idea; it became a place where young people could strengthen their intellect, gain experience in contributing to the organization’s goals through ideas that enable the up scaling of programmes in a more efficient and sustainable way, and becoming competitive international development experts.

Struggling to find a way out, EMCAD started by brokering individual consultants to conduct assignments of varying scope, breadth and depth across the East and Southern region of Africa.  In 2016, EMCAD managed to make a breakthrough and was successfully selected to conduct an end of project evaluation of IOMs Partnership on Health and Mobility in East and Southern Africa, an evaluation that covered 11 programme countries, with primary data collection in 4 of these countries. Every contract that EMCAD has been engaged on since then, has provided a unique learning opportunity for the EMCAD team and its consultants that has resulted in a continuum of knowledge generation, experience and the fostering of strategic networks. EMCAD has vast experience in conducting field work in countries including Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Lesotho, Ethiopia, Somaliland and Zimbabwe.
